A Wrong Address... and an Unforgettable Adventure!

Life is full of opportunities disguised as coincidences. All you have to do is recognize them when they come knocking at your door.

Let me set the scene.

It was Monday, March 31st, 2025. I had just opened the agency, ready to start another work week, when a couple walked through the door speaking with unmistakable American accents, asking if this was where they were supposed to pick up the motorcycle they had rented.

After a brief conversation, I quickly realized what had happened. They had rented their bike through one of our trusted partners... they had simply come to the wrong address.

I gave them the correct location, but before they left I told them that, if they wanted, I'd be happy to take them on a ride to discover a few of my favorite hidden gems around Valencia.

Arthur smiled and explained that they already had a route planned from Wikiloc.

I told him I was sure it would be a good ride, but I also shared something I truly believe: the most memorable roads, the hidden viewpoints and the places that rarely appear on any app are usually known by the people who have spent years riding them. So I suggested that, just for one day, he leave the GPS in the background and trust a local guide instead.

To be honest, Arthur wasn't entirely convinced that I was seriously offering to guide them. I had to explain more than once that this was actually what we do for a living. He still looked a little skeptical.

So I said,

"Look... now that you've walked through my door today, I have two options. I can stay here in the office catching up on paperwork... or I can spend the entire day riding motorcycles with you. Which one do you think I'd rather do?"

His face lit up immediately.

They told me they were heading into Valencia to collect the motorcycle and that they'd come back afterwards to start the ride.

Even then, I wasn't completely sure they would return.

But almost two hours later, there they were again, pulling up outside the agency on their BMW R1300 GS.

At that moment, I realized they had decided to trust a complete stranger.

Perfect.

I locked up the office, put on my helmet and we set off without overthinking it.

A completely spontaneous ride... what we Valencians call "pensat i fet" ("thought and done"), a local expression that perfectly captures our way of looking at life: when a great opportunity appears... you simply go for it.

We headed towards Torrent and then Dos Aguas, enjoying spectacular twisty roads surrounded by incredible scenery.

By lunchtime we reached Requena, where I booked a table at Restaurante La Pinada, one of those places I never hesitate to recommend. Their charcoal grill has earned my loyalty over the years, and it didn't disappoint that day either.

A fresh salad, perfectly grilled local meats, traditional Valencian sausages... after an unforgettable morning on the road, it tasted even better.

After our well-earned lunch, we continued towards Benagéber Reservoir.

Before leaving, I switched on the camera mounted on my helmet and let Arthur and Kathy ride in front.

I'll never forget what happened the moment I pressed the record button.

Arthur effortlessly lifted the front wheel in a perfect little wheelie as he pulled away.

I couldn't help thinking,

"These two are completely crazy."

Although, to be fair... after spending lunch laughing and talking together, I already had a feeling they were exactly that kind of people.

I think all three of us were genuinely surprised that something as simple as taking the wrong address could end up creating such an unforgettable day together.

Maybe that's what happens when people travel with an open mind and surround themselves with positive energy. Sometimes those small coincidences become the best memories.

One of the most incredible moments came while we were stopped on the dam at Benagéber Reservoir.

Several eagles were soaring directly above our motorcycles, but neither Arthur nor Kathy had looked up.

It happens surprisingly often.

People stop there to admire the breathtaking views around the reservoir—which are spectacular enough on their own—but very few realize that the rocky cliffs surrounding the dam are home to several eagle nests. It's quite common to see these magnificent birds circling gracefully overhead.

Now picture the scene.

Three eagles soaring above our bikes while two American riders, who had met a local Valencian guide purely by chance just a few hours earlier, stood there taking it all in.

When I told them to look up and they finally spotted the eagles above them... their expressions said everything.

We continued our ride until we eventually arrived back at the agency.

Before saying goodbye, I gave them each an official Toro Biker T-shirt.

Later, they were kind enough to record a few videos sharing their thoughts about the experience, something I'll always appreciate.

Some rides take weeks to plan.

Others come together in just five minutes.

Ironically, it's often those spontaneous adventures that become the ones you'll remember forever... and sometimes, they're also where lasting friendships begin.
