Boat ride on La Albufera Lake in Valencia in typical ‘albuferencas’ boats, crafted in a traditional artisanal manner. We navigate up to four nautical miles (about 7 kilometers) across the open waters of La Albufera, known as El Lluent, providing a view of its vastness and its channels, including the famous Sequiota, one of the prime fishing grounds for eels and sea bass entering from the sea. The journey allows for the observation of various species of water birds present in La Albufera during different seasons of the year. Ducks, seagulls, herons, cormorants, terns, marsh harriers—an assorted display of the rich birdlife in this wetland. From the boat, you can see the fishing spots, Les Calaes, set up in winter, as well as the old huts, typical dwellings of El Palmar, including the one where the series ‘Cañas y barro’ was filmed, based on the novel by Valencian writer Vicente Blasco Ibáñez. The entire journey is thoroughly explained by the boatmen themselves, who will respond to the curiosity of those embarking with us in the best way they know.
