Tour Description
Hi, I’m Rafa Payá, biker and the person responsible for designing Toro Biker’s routes, and to be honest, the one I’m presenting here is one of the most varied we have available.
Leaving Valencia, we’ll ride through mountain routes where the trees almost seem to swallow the road, climb one of the most famous passes in the Valencian Community, visit a cave that’s over 50,000 years old, enjoy the finest local delicacies, and this time we’ll even head out for a drink at one of Denia’s most renowned pubs and dance until our bodies give up—why not?
The area of Oliva, Denia and Jávea is one of the most privileged in terms of climate, with an average of 20ºC throughout the year and approximately 322 days of sunshine annually, which simply makes it a paradise for bikers. It’s no coincidence that most residents in the area are Germans, Dutch and English who are looking for a pleasant and sunny place to enjoy their retirement.
This entire experience is designed to be enjoyed from start to finish and includes, as always, motorcycle riding, culture, gastronomy and, this time, a bit of partying too—something that’s never a bad idea every now and then, right?
This route is available with a Toro Biker guide for a minimum of 5 participants, and also in “self-guided” mode. Which one do you prefer?

Cave of the Skulls
The cave is located in the municipality of Benidoleig, in the Marina Alta region. Discovered by chance in 1768 by a local farmer, it was not until the 1920s that archaeological excavations were carried out inside. At that time, the first human remains were discovered, and in the following decades, most of the skulls that can be seen today were found. The most accepted theory is that the Cave of the Skulls was used as a burial site in prehistoric times. The human remains found date back to about 5,000 years ago and correspond to the Neolithic culture. It is believed that the bodies were placed in the cave to decompose, and once only the bones remained, the heads were removed to be placed elsewhere. This explains the presence of so many skulls in the cave. Although the Cave of the Skulls is not very large, with only about 400 meters in length, its interior is spectacular. The stalactites and stalagmites formed over thousands of years create impressive shapes and figures that make the visit a unique experience. In addition, the cave is equipped with a lighting system that enhances the beauty of the formations. To visit the cave, it is necessary to make a prior reservation, as it is a protected and controlled space. Guided tours are conducted in small groups, ensuring a personalized and exclusive experience. Furthermore, audio guides are available for visitors who want to learn more details about the cave and its history. In conclusion, the Cave of the Skulls is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, archaeology, or nature. Its historical significance makes it a very special place, capable of transporting us to ancient times and making us feel a part of the history of humanity. Simmered in a rich chicken and vegetable broth, it's finished over wood fire (often orange tree wood) for a smoky touch. The perfect texture features separated grains and a crispy bottom layer (socarrat). Awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) by the EU in 2022. Served at gatherings as a cultural icon.
